Bank Robber Strikes In South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police say they have in custody a man who robbed a Wells Fargo Bank Thursday morning with a BB gun.

The robbery occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. Jan. 4, when the suspect entered the bank located at 712 Tyvola Road, pulled a gun and demanded money, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

"Once the suspect obtained the property he fled the scene on foot," CMPD said.

CMPD officers in the area were able to locate the suspect, who they have identified as 49 year-old Ronald Lee Parker, who they were able to take into custody after a foot chase.

Parker has been charged with common law robbery and is in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he was also served for outstanding warrants unrelated to this incident.
